Marvel Universe

I had the pleasure of interning with Secret Identity Studios over this past summer working on Gazillion Entertainment’s flagship MMO, Marvel Universe. The project remains in development, and is a top quality, free-to-play, MMO that incorporates the deep mythos of Marvel Comics. As a design intern on the team, I was responsible for a great variety of tasks that included systems tuning, level creation, crafting super powers, designing enemies, rigorous play testing, and maintenance and organization of crucial documentation. I learned an outstanding amount from my time with Secret Identity, and I plan on bringing that knowledge onto all of my future projects.

Praelium

Through a marriage of technology and magic, Praelium allows players to battle using their voice to cast an arsenal of powerful spells. Sorcerers of a distant and war-torn future compete for military supremacy and the secret for controlling the bounty of life through water magic. Up to 16 players on up to 4 teams take on the roles of wizards who are able to perform over 80 magical spells through a key-word combination voice recognition system. Praelium was developed by a team of 11 seniors, over the course of 8 months. It was created using many programs including Torque 3D, Autodesk Maya, Adobe Photoshop, Z Brush, and Audacity.

color chaos

A fast-paced puzzle game inspired by the electronic music scene of Montréal and my adoration of the classic masterpiece, Tetris. Color Chaos strives to focus on simple mechanics which can be learned in the first few seconds of play, but require many play sessions to become a master. The ease of focus around the game allows it to be enjoyed by both casual and hardcore players who wish to take in the experience or shoot for a high score. Color Chaos was created during the Spring semester of my junior year while studying abroad in Montréal, under the instruction and critique of Behaviour Interactive’s Patrick Fortier. It was developed using Multimedia Fusion 2 Developer, Adobe Photoshop, and Linux Multimedia Studio.

the eve

What would you give up for Love? The Eve is an analysis of this question in the form of a side-scrolling platformer. Developed by a team of 2 designers and 2 artists over the course of 4 months while studying abroad in Montréal. The Eve is crafted to encourage a player to delve deep into the meaning of the game experience and emerge with both answers and questions, while maintaining all of the entertainment and challenge of a Famicom era platformer. The Eve was implemented using a variety of programs including Multimedia Fusion 2 Developer, Adobe Photoshop, Autodesk Maya, Adobe Flash, and FL Studio.

Political Party

The race for elected office is a game played with substantial stakes. Political Party aims to parody this experience in the safe format of a traditional social game. Each player around the table is vying for the supreme elected office. But only the player with the silver tongue, wits of steel, and an empty conscience will bring victory to his or her political party. Created as practice in iterative design over the course of 4 months, this prototype traditional game draws inspiration from some of the best strategy and social games and merges them within the format of a political race.
